Renato Dellamano, President and Founder of ValueVector, recently presented a speech at the Training Course organized by the Italian Society of Regulatory Affairs, Market Access and Pharmacovigilance (SIARV) in Rome on May 27-28, 2026 – https://www.siarv.it/giornate-di-studio-e-aggiornamento-dedicato-alle-attivita-regolatorie-di-accesso-e-di-farmacovigilanza-19-corso-didattico/
The title of his speech was: “Beyond the horizon: Pharmaceutical innovation between geopolitical storms and new cures’’. Key topics addressed were:
- The inequalities in access to innovative therapies, based on an analysis of the 2025 update of the EFPIA / IQVIA “W.A.I.T.” Indicator;
- Some challenges posed by the European Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) procedure, given some potential conflicts between European and national HTA procedures;
- The evolving context for R&D / clinical research, characterized in particular by the exponential growth, in recent years, of the number of clinical trials conducted in China vs US / Europe and some new trends which might change the world of clinical research in the near future, like, for instance: the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the expansion of real-world evidence studies, and the expanded use of patient-reported outcomes;
- The growing international pressures, like, for instance, those which led to the recent arrangement on pharmaceutical pricing signed between the US and the UK.
